In 2002, a fire devastated the building behind the apartment building I manage. The vacant property now boasts a community garden. I enjoy caring for it. Now and then I indulge in some quiet time at the garden. Basking in the serenity I often think of Racing Heart.
'Editing is Montage', professor Ben Meade used to say. What is montage? It is a mixture. A mixture of sequential images that is more than the sum of it's parts. It contains meaning. It's the subtext. It's code for emotions. With Montage, you can 'read' and 'feel' between the lines. Editing requires I draw on my experience and knowledge of philosophy, music, aesthetics, psychology, spirituality, ethics, performing arts, language arts, culture, history, graphic design, computer technology, office/financial, and communications.
